Making Sense of Hinduism
Speaker: Narendra Murty
Hinduism doesn’t have a fixed structure like the other religions. From the Atheism of the Charvakas to the highest devotional religion; from the Atomism of the Vaisheshikas to the Idealism of Advaita Vedanta; from the worship of Nature to the adoration of the Nirakar Ishwara; from Yoga to Tantra – all these are part of Hinduism. The complexity is baffling. However, there are some fundamentals through which we can make sense of Hinduism in spite of its variety and diversity.
Narendra Murty is a former Divisional Manager in the Life Insurance industry with over thirty years of passionate study in various religions and philosophies both Eastern and Western. He has authored several books, including Eating His Money – The Antics of a Metaphysical Clown, An Odyssey of the Mind Journeys in the Modern Mindscape, The Religion of Wonder, and An Oak Tree in the Garden – Exploring the World of Zen. Currently, he serves as a Research Associate at Sri Aurobindo Society in Pondicherry and writes monthly for their online journal, Renaissance.
